Micro-credentials in Europe: the Council Recommendation in Practice
The European approach to micro-credentials and what it asks of issuers.
Why this course
The 2022 Council Recommendation is the common European reference for education providers and increasingly for public funders. Providers and corporate academies that want cross-recognition need it, and the education segment asks for it. Kept at Knowledge level because the design work itself happens in P01.
What you will be able to do
- Explain the EU definition of a micro-credential and the standard elements it should carry.
- Apply the ten principles for design and issuance to an example and identify gaps.
- Describe how micro-credentials relate to the EQF, national qualification frameworks and ECTS.
- Identify what corporate academies must add if they want education providers to recognise their credentials.
